Experienced Project Manager looking for a new challenge?

Calibre Search is working with an established environmental consultancy looking to appoint an experienced Principal Project Manager to take responsibility for the delivery of a range of complex environmental and ecology-related projects.

This opportunity is particularly suited to someone with a strong background in Project Management, ideally gained within the Environmental Consultancy, Construction, Infrastructure, Engineering or Planning sectors.

While the projects will have a strong environmental and ecological focus, we`re not necessarily looking for someone who has spent their career working as an Ecologist. What`s more important is your ability to successfully manage projects, coordinate technical teams, oversee budgets and maintain strong client relationships.

You`ll be joining a collaborative multidisciplinary environment, taking ownership of significant projects and ensuring they`re delivered efficiently, commercially and to a high standard.

The Role

As Principal Project Manager, you`ll be responsible for overseeing projects from initial planning through to completion, working alongside environmental specialists and wider project teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading the delivery of complex environmental and multidisciplinary projects.

• Managing project programmes, budgets, resources and deliverables.

• Overseeing project financial performance, including forecasting, profitability and commercial risk.

• Coordinating internal technical specialists, external consultants and other stakeholders.

• Establishing effective project controls, reporting procedures and delivery plans.

• Identifying potential risks and resolving issues before they affect project delivery.

• Acting as a key point of contact for clients and maintaining strong working relationships.

• Ensuring projects are completed within agreed timescales and budgets.

• Supporting and mentoring colleagues to improve project management processes and standards.

• Contributing to the continued improvement of project delivery across the business.

What We`re Looking For

We`re particularly keen to speak with experienced Project Managers who have successfully delivered complex projects within a consultancy, construction or similar technical environment.

You`ll ideally bring:

• Significant experience managing multiple projects, ideally within Environmental Consultancy, Construction, Infrastructure, Engineering or a related industry.

• A proven track record of managing project budgets, programmes, resources and commercial performance.

• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.

• Strong knowledge of project governance, risk management and reporting.

• Confidence dealing directly with clients and managing expectations.

• Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.

• A relevant degree or recognised Project Management qualification.

Experience working on environmental, ecology, planning or development-related projects would be particularly beneficial.

Knowledge of environmental legislation and planning processes would be advantageous, although candidates with transferable experience from other project-led industries are encouraged to apply.

Experience using Power BI or similar reporting systems would also be useful.

The key requirement is proven Project Management experience. We`re looking for someone who understands how to deliver complex projects successfully, rather than someone whose background is purely technical ecology.
