Where leadership meets lasting national impact.
The Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) exists to deliver on a clear and compelling vision: better financial futures for everyone in need. As an arm’s-length body sponsored by the Department for Work and Pensions, MaPS plays a vital role at the heart of the UK’s financial wellbeing agenda, ensuring that individuals have access to trusted guidance and the information they need to make confident financial decisions across their lives. Through its five core functions - pension guidance, debt advice, money guidance, consumer protection and strategy - MaPS brings together policy, delivery and innovation in service of a single national mission.
The Pensions Dashboard Programme
Central to this ambition is the transformation of how people engage with their pensions. The Pensions Dashboard Programme (PDP) is designing and delivering the central digital architecture that will underpin this ecosystem. The Money Helper Pensions Dashboard enables individuals to securely access all of their pension information online, in one place.
The Role
Against this backdrop, MaPS is seeking an exceptional leader to take on the role of Corporate Director for Pensions Platform. Reporting to the Chief Digital & Information Officer, this is a pivotal position with end-to-end accountability for the performance, resilience and evolution of the Pensions Dashboards digital ecosystem. Acting as the strategic bridge between MaPS and its providers, you will ensure the delivery of a secure, high-availability national platform while retaining architectural control, data sovereignty and long-term sustainability. The role combines deep technical authority with commercial acumen, overseeing service integration, orchestrating a complex B2B and B2B2C ecosystem, shaping a multi-year platform roadmap, and leading the transition towards greater in-house capability. You will operate at Corporate Director level, translating complex technical concepts into clear strategic insight, while leading a multi-disciplinary, matrixed team and aligning delivery partners behind a shared vision.
Experience Required
We are looking for a commercially astute and proven digital leader with a track record of operating at scale and complexity. You will bring deep experience of managing multivendor ecosystems, coupled with a deep understanding of ITIL-based service environments and high-availability infrastructure. You will have demonstrable success in managing large-scale service contracts, leveraging performance frameworks and financial mechanisms to drive value and accountability. Your background will include leading major digital transitions, including the strategic movement between outsourced and insourced service models. You will be an inspirational leader, comfortable operating in agile, matrixed environments, with the credibility to influence senior stakeholders across government and industry. Above all, you will combine strategic vision with delivery focus, and the ability to build and sustain one of the UK’s most important digital public assets.
Please get in touch with GatenbySanderson to explore the role in more detail and discuss how your experience could contribute to shaping one of the UK’s most significant digital public services.
