We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Capacity Analyst to join our Capacity & Availability team at HL.

Responsible for providing insight into the capacity, utilisation and availability of the applications and services that make up our investment platform, you will play a key role in providing assurance to the business that our platform can support our client demand.
This will involve working closely with business stakeholders and product owners to understand and agree business requirements and working alongside product, service delivery and operational teams to ensure that these business requirements can be met.

The role will require gaining an in-depth technical knowledge of the multiple applications that make up our service, understanding and reporting the demand, performance and utilisation profiles for these applications and ensuring we maintain capacity and availability targets within an environment of high change.

Day to day you will be managing problems, issues and requests relating to capacity/availability and working closely with our product teams within the Software Development Life Cycle to ensure that we understand and mitigate any risks caused by change to the capacity and performance of our platform.

At HL we are currently on a journey of transformation to optimise our platform using the latest cloud based technologies – this role will also be involved in that journey providing capacity assurance around the migration

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Working with key stakeholders to define and achieve capacity, performance and availability targets
Monitoring and reporting the utilisation, performance and availability of our services and applications against known limits
Ensuring issues and problems relating to capacity and availability are recorded and tracked to resolution within ServiceNow
Providing visibility of utilisation and performance through application logs and application data via automation, ETL, analysis and dashboarding
Ensuring performance and capacity have been adequately considered and tested throughout the SDLC
Working within a culture of continuous improvement
Creating and updating procedure guides and knowledge-bases
Behaving in a professional manner at all times and building professional relationships with colleagues and key stakeholders that will enhance the service we provide

Essential Experience

Good understanding of ITIL principles in particular those relating to Capacity & Availability Management
Risk awareness: ability to determine and mitigate risk
Experience of adhering to audited procedures
Experience of monitoring tools with performance capabilities such as App Dynamics, Nagios, Solarwinds
Essential Knowledge

Understanding of application and service design alongside technologies used within distributed applications and web services
Data ETL, analysis and visualisation skills
Scripting and Database Query experience
Log parsing techniques and tools
Dashboarding utilising PowerBI or Excel (Power Query/PowerPivot)

Essential Skills

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Excellent troubleshooting and investigation skills
Well organised and able to prioritise workload
Collaborative, keen to share knowledge
Good attention to detail
