Job Description

Performing Medicine is Clod Ensemble’s award-winning professional development initiative for people working in
health and social care settings (including GP’s, consultants, nurses, medical students, link workers, artists).

Our practical, interactive courses are facilitated by Associate Artists with expertise in performing and visual arts
(theatre, voice, sculpture, dance, creative writing, photography) - helping health professionals to use their bodies
and voices for effective communication; to become more aware of their own needs as well as those of the people
around them; and to appreciate the stories and experiences of others.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To lead the strategic development, communication and operational management of Performing Medicine.
To ensure Performing Medicine delivers excellent, arts-based training and development opportunities for people
working in health and social care settings, securing its long-term financial sustainability, and ensuring that all
services are developed and delivered in line with the values, vision and objectives of the company.

Supported by Clod Ensemble’s General Manager (Finance) & Development Manager
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Development & Partnership Building
• Provide clear leadership and operational direction to ensure a long-term sustainable future
• Develop and implement a strategy to significantly increase income through sales and grants
• Secure and build partnerships with NHS Trusts and medical schools
• Secure, nurture and cultivate relationships with charitable trusts and foundations and other funders
• Lead on development of strategic communications, securing PM’s reputation as a thought leader in artsbased approaches to professional development in healthcare contexts
Operations
• Ensure that the Performing Medicine team is well managed, structured and resourced so they are
empowered to deliver our artistic and business objectives
• Manage the Performing Medicine Team
• Be the senior contact for strategic, contractual and financial issues for partners and clients, including
monitoring funding agreements, providing reports and overseeing evaluation
• Develop capacity within the team including overseeing training for new Associate Artists
Financial Management
• Oversee the financial management of Performing Medicine, reporting to the Board regularly on progress,
secured income and updated forecasts towards achieving financial targets

TERMS AND DETAILS
Salary: £32,800 p/a (based on a full-time salary of £41,000)
Hours of Work: 4 days per week
Period of contract: Fixed term 1 year contract
Annual leave: 20 days p/a (25 days pro rata) plus bank holiday pro rata.
Pension: Auto-enrolment in company pension scheme. 5% employee contribution matched
by 5% contribution from Clod Ensemble.
Location: Greenwich, London.
