Gatehouse Chambers

Role: Chambers Concierge
Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience
Working: Monday - Friday
Hours: 8 hours per day (flexibility on timing over the hours of 8.30am – 7pm; cover at other times; occasional early mornings or late evenings)
Reporting to: Practice Operations Director

We are looking for an exceptional individual to join our team to take on a new role as our Chambers Concierge.  We are looking for someone with a natural flair for customer service, and the desire to help people and build key relationships. You will need to be a motivated, creative self-starter, as your responsibilities will be varied and you may find that you spend lots of time on your own, peppered with times when the building is busy with clients, guests, colleagues and contractors.

The most important aspect of your role will be to ensure that everyone who comes to Gatehouse Chambers receives a warm welcome and their needs and requirements are looked after.  You will be the lead person overseeing the smooth-running of operations in our 8 meeting rooms and 2 seminar suites.

We want to find someone who brings their personality, creativity, flexibility, kindness and efficiency to this new role, and someone who shares our values.

This is a full time role, but we are happy to hear from applicants who want to work part time or to job share.

More about the role
In July 2021 Gatehouse Chambers moved to its new office building at 1 Lady Hale Gate in Gray’s Inn.  The move to the new building coincided with the change in chambers (business) name from Hardwicke to Gatehouse Chambers.  Read more here:

The new building provides many exciting opportunities and some challenges.  The challenges include being located in a new space that is configured very differently to our old building, so we need to re-work how we operate: notably for this role it means that we already have a person on the ground floor entrance providing a security-type role, in combination with this newly advertised role based on the 5th floor of the building as the main reception area, and overseeing and servicing the activities on the 5th and 6th floors.

Key responsibilities therefore will include having the ability to fully own and take responsibility for the 5th and 6th client and hospitality floors, albeit you are part of a first-rate staff team of about 30 people who perform different functions and are based on the first floor.

Consistent with our staff team mission statement, we want to attract someone who works hard and has fun!
Benefits: 20 days’ holiday + statutory bank holidays. Interest free travel loan (after successful completion of probation) and 5% pension contribution after 3 months.

Requests for application packs must be received by midday on Friday 24 September 2021
Closing date: Midnight on Sunday 26 September 2021
Interviews likely to be during week commencing Monday 11 October 2021
