The Head of Engineering Services  leads the engineering services function within IT Operations team.

The role is responsible for building and rolling out new capabilities across the organisation including providing engineers to support the delivery of change based activities. 

This role will also be responsible for the delivery of a number of SaaS based cloud services.
The Head of Engineering Services leads teams of engineers within the IT department that build and rollout new capabilities to the organisation. The role also supports the delivery of the change activity.

Role Accountabilities 

Building and leading teams of high performing technology specialists (>20 people) that work in cross functional teams.

Supporting our software engineering teams in the efficient and effective delivery of the change agenda in a highly pressurised environment whilst ensuring that solutions implemented are resilient and secure.

Reducing the cost of delivery through the use of standard tooling and automation whilst ensuring high quality and adherence to standards.

The delivery of new capabilities, including third party solutions.

Ownership and delivery of the AWS platform enabling colleagues from across HL to consume the capabilities of AWS in a secure and compliant way.

Ownership and development of the M365 platform ensuring that we maximize our investment in this technology whilst remaining secure.

Coordinating and collaborating with key partners across IT and Change department,  building alignment on the change delivery.

Skills and Experience

Minimum of 5 years appropriate experience of leading cross functional/matrix teams in a medium / large organisation.

Broad understanding of technology including on-prem and cloud.

Driving the optimised delivery through modern practices such as infrastructure and configuration as code.

An analytical approach with the ability to preempt potential problems and identify inefficiencies.

A very strong client orientated approach.

Continuous improvement mindset.
