The Centrica Legal Entity Centre of Excellence is primarily responsible for
the preparation of the Group's subsidiary financial statements. In this role
you'll be a member of an evolving team looking at transforming the statutory
accounts preparation process.

You'll be responsible for the end to end process for the statutory accounts
from preparation of complex accounts through to managing the audit and
Business Unit/director review process and signing.

Additionally, responsible for overseeing a junior financial accountant in
their role in preparing simpler statutory accounts and coaching them in
managing the end to end process for these entities.

As well as assisting the Director of Legal Entity Financial Control in
tracking the end to end process for all entities.

Key accountabilities;

 * Preparing extended trial balances from accounting records for complex
 * Preparing complex statutory accounts (using OneSource)
 * Reviewing work of junior financial accountant, managing their workload
and identifying their development areas/opportunities
 * Reviewing account balances and obtaining supporting audit documentation
 * Obtaining information from SAP systems
 * Obtaining the information needed by EY for tax provision and computation
 * Taking a lead role in agreeing and managing timetable for stats prep and
 * Take a lead role in liaising with other teams to obtain any necessary
audit documentation (BU FC team, offshore team, legal, Secretariat, tax)
 * Being the key point of contact for the auditors and managing the audit
process to ensure completion in line with the agreed timetable
 * Identifying process improvement opportunities including automation

Key Projects / Activities;

 * Staying technically up to date such that any changes impacting stats are
reflected correctly in the One Source accounts template.
 * Adhoc projects (e.g. offline adj playback process, tax information
process, distributable reserves process, legal entity rationalisation

Key stakeholders & working relationships;

 * Directors of legal entities
 * Business Unit Financial Controllers and their teams
 * Centrica Tax team and EY outsourced tax team
 * Company Secretariat team
 * Auditors (both onshore and offshore)


Work experience & Functional/Technical skills;

 * Excellent technical accounting knowledge
 * Experience in statutory accounts preparation and review
 * Experience in dealing with auditors
 * Previous experienced in using SAP systems (SAP ERP & BPC), or a similar
accounting system such as JD Edwards
 * Experience in using OneSource Accounts Production software
 * Experience in managing and mentoring a team is highly desirable but not
 * Good systems skills (use of O365 products, excel, power query)

Education & certifications

 * Qualified accountant (preferable ACA)


 * Ability to track, manage and escalate where necessary multiple
deliverables across a team
 * Ability to coach/train more junior team members
 * Commitment to high quality in all aspects of work
 * Strong personal organisational skills
 * Ability to analyse problems, propose remedies and implement a solution
 * Ability to recognise what needs to be done and complete with minimal
 * Ability to work to tight deadlines and forward plan to manage workload
 * Ability to work well in a team with some team members in other locations

For the right candidate we're able to consider 4 days per week, or flexible
hours in line with the role requirement over a four day period.

Flexible location base - must be commutable on occasion to Windsor for
business requirements and staff interaction.
