This is a key role within Solution Design and Engineering acting as a
technology consultant to the business and providing key inputs to the
Business roadmap. 

The job holder will support the development of Solution Architecture across
the Centrica IT landscape and act as the bridge to technical delivery teams;
internal and external. 

In conjunction with Strategy and Architecture, the job holder will also
support the introduction of new technologies where required to deliver the
business and enterprise roadmap.

The role is likely to be embedded within multi-disciplinary Business and IT
teams defining the current and future blueprints, shaping the business and
technology roadmaps, and providing key inputs to technology investment.

Key priorities would include:
Create high level solution models and solution architectures for assigned
projects aligned to business outcomes across the Centrica Group
Be a technology consultant, guiding the various Centrica business units on
how the capabilities of systems can be used to solve business problems
Assure that solutions will deliver the roadmap (defined in conjunction with
the Business) and that Objectives are achieved with specific measures
Contribute to the development of the Enterprise Target Architecture aligned
to the business strategy
Be the design authority on projects ensuring adherence to design standards
and the Enterprise Target Architecture
Develop the relevant subject matter expertise or identify and utilise
individuals with relevant expertise to assist them

The Job role:

Responsible for prioritising and managing own workload, and others as
required as part of a global distributed organisation
Contribute to the Target Architecture and definition and maintenance of
Support the development of the project planning including ensuring the
phases are appropriate.

Financial Responsibilities
Support the budget development process for a solution to maximise the
business case leveraging investment across the Group to deliver maximum
return on investment.

Operational Responsibilities
Deliver high-level solution models and solution architectures in line with
business requirements, organisation and industry standards across all
Centrica business units
Ensure compliance of all high-level solution models and solution
architectures to the Target Architecture, Enterprise roadmaps, architecture
principles and standards
Assess the impact of business change on the existing architecture and
support the prioritisation of these changes
Provide direction and guidance on projects ensuring adherence to
Architecture and Design standards and the Enterprise Target Architecture
Work with the project stakeholders to understand the business outcomes and
strategy so that recommended solution options provide the best fit against
requirements and budget
Support the Business to determine high-level functional and non functional
requirements, maximising the use of standard or out-of-the-box features and
Create solution options and solution architectures, ensuring any deviations
to the standards are handled through the Strategy and Architecture
Governance process
Be accountable for the viability of proposed solutions and provides
direction, advice and guidance on the appropriate approach to the solution
throughout the project
Perform the design assurance role on change, ensuring that the detailed
designs and solutions delivered align to the solution architecture, managing
and resolving any design issues as they arise
Maintain awareness of the technology in use within the Group in order to
ensure solutions leverage the capability of the estate
Identify the commercial impacts of decisions involving architecture at a
Group level and engage the appropriate people in coming to a sound
commercial outcome.

Work with Business teams (including Journey teams and other MDTs) to define,
size and prioritise solution options
Work with external suppliers to ensure that the appropriate technology
direction is set with respect to systems, data and technical infrastructure
Work and effectively communicate with a wide range of stakeholders across
the Group in developing a solution that meets the needs of the business.

The Person:
Accredited in application of structured architecture frameworks (e.g TOGAF)
Experience of solution design with Agile and “Agile at scale”
and awareness of Agile delivery models and techniques
Experience of working in large multi channel environment
Experience of implementing solutions across multiple integration disciplines
Experience of full lifecycle implementations
Experience of delivering projects across multiple domains
Solid appreciation of architecture practices and principles
Experience of 'Customer Experience Design' and 'Design Thinking thinking'
Drive and aptitude to take ownership and drive to conclusion
Application Functional knowledge
Awareness of integration techniques and tools
Awareness of data design principles and modelling techniques
Commercial acumen and appreciation of business finance fundamentals
Awareness of industry trends
Awareness and experience of structured programming languages.
