The BMA, which supports doctors across the UK, is expanding the team and is looking for a Senior Media Officer to join the association on a fixed-term basis.

Would you like to be at the cutting edge of the news agenda, helping shape many of the biggest health and doctor-related stories of the day? Are you looking for a role where no two days are the same? Where there is an opportunity to work at a senior level, in one of the most prestigious professional health bodies in the country and with a great team?

The BMA is looking for a talented, astute and experienced Senior Media Officer who can spot a really great story that needs to be told and who can think on their feet to develop persuasive but powerful messages to communicate the BMA`s position as the doctor`s trade union and a leading professional body.

As a Senior Media Officer for the BMA, you are guaranteed a varied and eventful working day. In any given week you could find yourself designing and leading the next big campaign, securing media coverage on most of the major print and broadcast organisations, through to managing a rapidly developing story on the latest health crisis.

In your new role you`ll need to be able to assess and execute the media activity on anything from our latest research on complex ethical issues such as abortion and clinically assisted hydration, through to political and policy issues on the state of the NHS and doctors` contracts.

We are looking for candidates with excellent judgement, drive and extensive experience in communications, public relations or journalism who will be creative in their own right but also willing to mentor and support junior team members. . We want individuals who bring energy, fresh ideas and new approaches to ensure that our team is constantly moving forward.

As a BMA employee, you`ll receive:

Generous annual leave provision, plus 1 company day and public holidays
double matching pension contributions up to 12% of salary
season ticket loan (up to £10,000) after completion of probationary period
additional flexible benefits.

You will be working remotely initially, but we`ll provide all the support you need. If this sounds like the right opportunity for you, please apply through our website.

Diversity monitoring: We need your support. We want to make sure our staff come from a variety of backgrounds so we especially welcome applications from disadvantaged communities. Even if you`re not selected, it would be really helpful if you could complete the equal ops data when you apply for this role, because we can make sure we`re encouraging a diversity of people to apply. Thank you very much
