The Open University celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2019. The OU is a leading provider globally of high quality flexible learning underpinned by excellence in research. It is the largest university in the UK, offering around 450 modules to more than 170,000 students. Its breadth of activities and inclusive ethos make it a unique institution.
We are looking for a senior leader with proven financial and commercial experience to serve as Treasurer. The Treasurer is an ex officio member of the Open University’s Council, chairs its Finance Committee, and serves on several strategic committees. The role is likely to require a time commitment of 23 days per year. It is unremunerated, although reasonable expenses are covered.
Skills and experience
Candidates should have demonstrable financial leadership experience at senior executive or, ideally, board level within a relevant organisation, have significant commercial knowledge, and possess a strategic mindset. A commitment to the ethos and direction of the Open University, as well as a passion for and appreciation of issues facing Higher Education is required.
