Our customers are unique, and very different in their own ways and in how we support them, but they all have varying support needs - our colleagues say that no two days are the same!
Oakfields is a well-established service within Exeter. We work closely with the National Probation Service and the PPU. 
We support our customers who have recently been released from the Justice system.  We help our customers to gain independence within the community and to build on the support networks and skills to move on to independent living. Our service provides a person centred support package that supports customers in their own living environments, to learn and develop life skills, manage their own risks and outcomes with the aim for them to move on to their own accommodation.

About our team
You’ll be working alongside our fabulous team who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements.  To us were not just a team we’re a ‘work family’. Our manager is Richard, who has worked for Home group for twelve years after moving down from London where he also worked in offender support for a huge twenty-one years. There are several of us in the team and we don’t just love to support our customers, we’re there for each other too! Niki, and Saikat have worked here almost as long as Richard - and Heather has been here even longer!  Lisa and Lara and have all been with us just over 12 months - don’t worry we will look to hire you if your name doesn’t start with an L! Many previous colleagues from our team have moved on to progress their careers within the Criminal Justice System after working at Home Group.

We are currently investing in the team by arranging training with the Local Probation Service that will enhance their capabilities and skills and help them to support our customers. When you join there is lots of scope for personal growth and development. But if you are happy doing your own thing then that is great too!

Working hours
We provide 24-hour support to our customers every day, so you’ll work on a rota basis and take your turn working weekends and bank holidays. Our fixed shifts are on a 4 day on and 2 day off, with a working pattern of early shifts from 7 am - 3pm, and late shifts from 2pm - 10pm.  We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you! If you would rather work for us on a casual basis, we can help you with that too.

Bank
Looking for a more flexible working pattern? You can also join us on a flexible basis by being part of our bank.  You can work hours that fit around your current commitments or even pick up some additional shifts to your main role to earn some extra cash and get paid on a weekly basis.

About you
Ideally you have a background in Offender Management, but that isn't a deal breaker. You might have studied for a Criminology degree, here you find that we nurture your talent! This role has been a great stepping stone to several former colleagues, who've gone on to forge excellent careers in Justice and Offender Management. 

You are resilient, calm and supportive, and whilst you care passionately about your customers and making a difference to their lives, you will be working with them to manage their risk. You also know when to take a step back, and are able to work independently and find great solutions that meet your customer's needs.

To make sure that we keep our records straight, and customers safe, it's really important that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!) It’s also important that you are a real team player and relationship builder so that you can maximise the partnerships we have with external agencies.

Finally, we're also pretty flexible, and need you to be as well. It would be amazing if you have worked in this type of environment before, however what matters most to us and our customers is that you care and have a positive and energetic approach. You will help shape our services, undertake risk assessments, support planning, goal setting and regular reviews.  You’ll also guide and allocate tasks to our Support Workers too.  It’s really important to us that you have time to what you are really passionate about; making a real difference to our customers lives.   So to free up your time, you’ll be given the latest IT kit, which could include a Surface Pro tablet and smart phone, supported by our new online integrated IT system which means that you don’t have to be in the office as you can complete support plans on the go. 

If you are successful, we need you to have an Enhanced Disclosure Check through the Disclosure and Barring Service which we’ll pay for.
