We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and caring Support Worker like you to join our service which provides support to customers with Learning Disabilities and Autism.
This role is mainly to provide 1 to 1 intensive support to one of our customers who has autism and lives in one of our Independent Supported Living (ISL) services. They require support to keep themselves safe in the community and to manage relationships with others. Experience of managing behaviours of concern and a knowledge of autism would be beneficial.
You’ll be able to show understanding and willing to spend time building a strong relationship.
A good knowledge and skill base in person cantered support and professional boundaries is essential, as well as an understanding of the principles of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and the ability to apply these to your practice will also be useful.
As part of the role you will engage the customer in developing clear Support Plans and Safety Plans, and lead on regularly reviewing and updating these. Knowledge of Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty processes would also be useful in supporting you do this.
In addition to supporting our customer, there will also be the opportunity to work into our Independent Supported Living services and support our other customers who live there. As part of this all Support Workers are given the opportunity to complete the Care Certificate and offered the opportunity to complete NVQ qualifications.
About our team
We are a small but committed team who deliver high quality person centered support to our customers, promoting choice and inclusion. We are looking for motivated individuals who have a genuine desire to support vulnerable people and enhance their quality of life. You will work alongside our committed Support Coordinator and our dedicated team of 6 Support Workers to plan and implement support with our customers.
The services operate over a 24 hour per day 7 day per week. This includes evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
Shifts comprise of a variety of day shifts, and evening shifts. The main shift pattern with the customer who requires one to one support will be a mixture of 08:00-16:00 and 15:30-23:00 shifts, although there will be some variation depending on the customers’ needs.
Sleep in shifts will not be a regular part of your rota but will be incorporated at times when working in the ISL services.
All of our rotas are tailored and updated around the requirements of our customers to ensure all of their needs are met. This means that flexibility and the ability to adapt is required. However this also means that the role is varied and interesting. Shifts will include supporting customers from everything with independent living skills in their home to going to gig’s and on holidays.
Looking for a more flexible working pattern? You can also join us on a flexible basis by being part of our bank. You can work hours that fit around your current commitments or even pick up some additional shifts to your main role to earn some extra cash and get paid on a weekly basis.

You will have experience in safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality, support plans, alongside working collaboratively.
We help change our customer’s lives for the better. You’ll play your part by assisting in the delivery of tasks that are based on our customers personal support plans, and their needs and aspirations. You’ll work with our Senior Support Workers and external agencies to assess and engage support for our customers. We empower our customers to develop the independent living skills they need, to successfully move on. Together we’ll make a difference!
If you are successful, we need you to have an Enhanced Disclosure Check through the Disclosure and Barring Service which we’ll pay for.
